When my husband, Tom, revived his great-grandfather’s recipe to create a best-selling premium bourbon, I was there emotionally, financially, and at times creatively. One of my contributions was a cocktail Tom would serve during his seemingly endless meetings, sales calls, events, and parties. The response we heard in chorus was, “This is delicious and refreshing.” I called it the B-L-T, or “Betsy’s Little Treat.” That acronym also stands for its three key ingredients: bourbon, lemon, and tonic. The cocktail was a hit, both among friends and family, as well as the industry executives who described it as “the perfect cocktail to sample the bourbon: vibrant, crisp, and perfectly balanced.” — Cheers!
